Text to Speech is becoming more and more popular in applications, websites. This technology allows interaction of the application with the user on a much more personal level. It allows users to receive information without having to take their eyes off whatever they are doing.
Now the devices like laptop, tablets, mobile have this feature. Any application running on these devices, such as a web browser, can make use of it, and extend its functionality. This helps your visitors to listen instead of reading a big paragraphs and sentences.
In this tutorial I recommend you to use iSpeech plugin to add Text to Speech in your WordPress website.
Steps to add Text to Speech
- Download Text to Speech plugin here
- Upload the downloaded plugin to your site by clicking on Plugins –> Upload
- Click Activater. Now the plugin has been activated
- Go to this link
- Enter your E-mail id & your website feed URL
- Check the tick box (i.e) This is my blog and I agree to the iSpeech Terms of Service
- Click on Get Podcast
After completing this process you will get a mail from iSpeech that you have Signed up for their services and your blog has been added to their list. You will also receive your user name and password from them to change your preferences.
After 1 or 2 min your blog will start talking with your visitors. It will be more engagable with your blog visitors. It will be appearing like below. When they click on Listen it will start reading your content.
You can also change the voice by going to Settings –> Listen Button
